Grow With Us

Community Co-Operative Education Center

More than a place to go riding, it's a place to grow.

Meet The Team

Picture
Jeni Platt grew up on horseback on her family farm in Central Virginia, where her love for horses and learning began through 4-H, local shows, and statewide competitions.
She started working with horses and youth as a teenager at a summer camp and has continued that path ever since, bringing together her passion for horsemanship, education, and mental health.
Jeni holds a BA in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and is completing a Master's in Education. She is also a certified Yoga Instructor and a Breathe For Change Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator.
At Storm Chaser Stables, Jeni creates programs that help riders build confidence, connection, and real-life skills through mindful, relationship-based horsemanship.

Rooted in Mindfulness-Based Horsemanship

The Homegrown Horsemanship Challenge grew out of Jeni's Master of Education practicum in Social-Emotional Learning, Mindfulness, and Yoga. Through that work, she explored how mindfulness-based horsemanship practices can support students’ emotional regulation, confidence, and connection during weekly lessons. At Storm Chaser Stables, this looks like simple, meaningful practices: pausing to breathe, noticing body tension, listening to horse feedback, reflecting after sessions, and building confidence through consistent, thoughtful care.
The challenge workbook was created to make these practices more accessible beyond our farm. Each session log invites participants to track what they did, what they noticed, and how they are growing as horsepeople. The goal is not perfection or performance. The goal is presence, partnership, consistency, and meaningful growth.
Grow Where You Are Planted is both the theme and the invitation: to keep learning with the horse in front of you, in the season you are in, right where you are.
We’re so glad you’re here 💜

In Loving Memory of Storm Warning
Some come and quickly go, others stay a while, but no matter what, they always leave hoof prints on your heart, and you will never, ever forget them.

Did You Know?

Storm Chaser Stables was named to honor Storm Warning, the beloved Arabian gelding that stole our hearts over two decades ago. Storm sadly crossed over the rainbow bridge and he is very dearly missed. We know he is galloping through the heavens and waiting for us on the other side. His memory lives on in our hearts!
