Storm Chaser Stables

May 2022 Newsletter

Hello to all of our Storm Chaser Stables Families! Summer is right around the corner and we are ready for it on the farm. As the sun comes out more and more, it’s a good idea to send the kids with a refillable water bottle, hats/sunglasses, sunscreen, and good walking shoes on their trip to the farm.

Upcoming Planned CLOSURE! May 22nd through May 29th we will be closed for our Pre-Summer break. This closure includes all on campus programs, such as farm school, horsemanship classes, and any ongoing trainings.

Summer Day Camp Update! Recently we released the dates of our nature-themed Tuesday/Thursday Horsemanship Summer Day Camp Sessions. These day camps are geared towards novice horse enthusiasts with lots of art and outdoor exploration. Each day includes mindful movement, a horsemanship activity, expressive arts, and adventures outside!

Sprouts Half Day Camps! Children 4+ are welcome to attend half day camps on Mondays and Fridays over Summer from 9am-12:30pm. These days include expressive arts and crafts, story time, outdoor play, and social emotional learning.

Register now if you plan to send your child to the farm for summer day camps!

Farm School Summer Academics! Our school year will continue over Summer. We will continue to offer academic support on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9am-3pm. Summer academics will run as usual with our year round nature exploration curriculum, horsemanship options, social emotional learning, and of course, academic support with our on-site tutors.

Student of the Month! We have decided to begin a monthly student shoutout to those who go above and beyond when on the farm, and who better to start with than Miss Piper Rogers. This year Piper mentors horsemanship students weekly and shows her pony partner, Punkin, with the equestrian team. She often steps up when it’s time to help out on the farm, and is a fantastic role model to the other students.

Farm School Day Program Applications Open for 2022-23! Interested in Farm School for the next academic cycle? We are partnered with Acellus Academy, an online program that is fully accredited with transferrable credits. Farm School includes daily academic blocks with tutoring available to all students, mindful movement, horsemanship option on certain days, expressive art projects, nature exploration, and free play on the farm. Please note, over Summer we will only have three academic days per week.

Full Time Farm School Discount Available! Interested in Farm School full time for your learner? If you choose to commit your student to the 2022-23 school year 5 full days per week, you may receive our limited discount of 25% off if you commit by June 15th! Secure your spot now—limited discounted spaces open! Fill out this form to apply for Farm School now. A non-refundable registration fee is due to process applications and will be credited towards your first tuition payment.

Farm Preschool Accepting Applications! Preschool is open to kids ages 3-5 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9am-12:30pm once our 2022-2023 school year begins in August. Littles attend 2-3 days per week to participate in group literacy activities, nature play, and more! Fill out this form to apply for Farm Preschool!

Homeschool Drop-in Option for 2022-23! Attention homeschoolers! We will continue to accommodate learners bringing their own curriculum (perfect for youth in need of tutoring) or drop-ins to one or more of our elective classes for socializing. Homeschool families are welcome to drop in, so please take advantage of our farm campus and knowledgeable staff! Contact us at [email protected] for more information and pricing.

Summer Working Student Availability! Only one opening left for a working student on the farm this Summer. Working students assist with feeding and caring for the horses, mentoring younger students, and other tasks in exchange for either horsemanship classes or participation in camp days over Summer.

Horsemanship Student Mentoring! We strive to facilitate learning experientially and a great way to accomplish this is by practice teaching. Horsemanship student mentors assist lower-level students and practice teach basic skills such as grooming and leading during some lessons to gain mastery of certain skills. Student mentoring is by invitation on select afternoons during the week at no additional cost. This opportunity often comes with extra pony time!

Horsemanship Class Availability Updates! Class openings are as follows:

  • Monday 4-5pm Leadline/Beginner - TWO Openings

  • Tuesday 3:30-5pm Beginner - TWO Openings

  • Thursday 3:30-5pm Intermediate Equestrian Team - ONE Opening
